When ATG was conceived I was just one of the voices that pushed the idea of this company that would combine the spirit of youth and innovativeness (which was largely found in myself and some other more youthful partners) while at the same time push the stability of blue chip based on the experience of our more experienced partners.
When I was given the mandate to drive this company it was not easy to keep its two fundamental wheels in sync: the innovators are driven by passion to create new things which is exhilarating while the old timers who are also the financial backers of the company are more comfortable with a more traditional type of African ICT company (A traditional African ICT company is a reseller of Western built technologies and takes minimal risks in developing its own technologies i.e. has minimal or Research and Development expenditures.
These types of companies litter Africa including my beloved Botswana. They always highlight we are partners of such and such.). ATG was anything but typical African ICT Company from moment of conception.
I had to establish balance between parties that have extremely different backgrounds but a common belief in my leadership. Now in case you are curious why they both believed in me: I am around 40 years old and have for a long time been an innovator and worked in big companies as a consultant therefore I am able to speak the languages the parties understand. I.e. am a geek with the geeks and a bonafide business man with the other partners and investors.
Within a very short time we have managed to build ATG a product profile that is very impressive a testament to the abilities and passion of our innovation team while at the same time have accumulated an equally impressive customer profile doing our consultancies and outsourcing or co-sourcing work.
ATG now has partners and active business in a few countries which was achieved in the year 2016 alone. I am extremely honored to lead ATG and be part of the atmosphere that sees great ideas being realized and a team of people who want to prove the African potential while at the same time establishing a great company. The next few years will see some of ATG products be part of the daily lives of many people from our security solutions to payment platforms. My team and I are extremely excited and we are eager to get users to join us in this exciting and extraordinary journey.
